Alfredo Rapetti Mogol, breaks down a sentence, often elementary (alphabetical) which causes an initial sense of estrangement in the observer. There are those who, at first glance, are satisfied, and instead, those who try to decipher this puzzle which leaves something to the observer once solved. This creates a synergy, making the viewer part of the work. Alfredo Rapetti Mogol

Alfredo Rapetti Mogol was born in Milan in 1961. His artistic education is influenced by the family atmosphere, where music, literature, and poetry have been the most important inspiration for generations. He is a grandson and son of art: his grandfather, Mariano, was the lyricist of songs such as Vecchio Scarpone and Le Colline Sono in Fiore, while his father Giulio, aka Mogol, also a lyricist, became famous thanks to the artistic partnership with Lucio Battisti. At a very young age, his maternal grandfather introduced him to the artistic environment in Milan. His training at the School of Comics in Milan, his collaborations in the publishing field, and his experiments in painting were destined to merge, in 1996, in the studio of the artists Algardi and Arlati, with whom Rapetti shared much of his pictorial research. For four intense years, he worked in the atelier in Via Nota Rapetti, where he developed the need to combine his two greatest passions: writing and painting. He adopts a particular stitching technique, through which painting merges with writing, and words begin to be marked on his canvases. In the late nineties until today, his exhibition activity is truly remarkable. Many remarkable venues, such as in 2020 the Permanente Museum in Milan, and the Salon d’Automne Paris, 2004 Espace Charenton and in 2006 the Mosca Mar’s Contemporary Art Museum, Palazzo Strozzi in Florence, the Riga Foreign Art Museum and the Grand Palais in Paris. Among the solo shows the Galleria d’Oro in Rome in 2003 and the KPMG Foundation in Berlin in the same year. In 2004 the Maretti Art Monaco Gallery in Montecarlo and Villa Olmo in Como. In 2005 and 2006 the Certosa di San Lorenzo in Padula. In 2010, with the De Chirico Foundation, he exhibited in three prestigious US museums and universities and held a solo show at the Mudima Foundation in Milan. In 2004 he joined the international group “Signes and Traces” founded by Riccardo Licata; he received the Etoile prize for painting of the Province of Rome. His work involves and arouses interests and debates, from Duccio Trombadori to Gianluca Ranzi, from Luciano Caprile to Maurizio Vanni. The most attentive critics have been able to read in Alfredo Rapetti a constant tension towards a research between East and West, prayer and mantra, poetry and prose. In 2007 he took part in the 52nd Venice Biennale in the Syrian Arab Republic Pavilion with the exhibition “Sulle vie di Damasco”. The list of Rapetti's exhibitions in the following years was very long. Between 2017 and 2018 he exhibited at the Civic Museum of Contemporary Art in Varese and in Spain in Marbella and Malaga in two prestigious solo shows. In 2019 he was invited to participate in the First Milan Biennale.
